Zone Write Up[edit]

The Githyanki Edit 0 1… A Zone Write-Up by Sunka

Introduction Ok, as we've been asked to do some zone write-ups to get the forum more full of good information, I figured I'd tackle a relatively simple zone that would be good for getting my feet wet. I'm fairly sure I've solved everything in this zone (except one thing which I'm not sure is there to solve anyway), but as always there could be more. I'm also sure my equipment list is not 100% complete and I may be missing one or two items (and I really want to know what those items are!!).

Anyway, this walkthrough only took me a few hours. The zone is extremely simple, there aren't many clue to look for and the mobs are relatively easy. The great thing about this zone for XP is that its mobs constantly reload. For a low-level solo zone, this isn't a bad little zone as each mob can net you 100k XP - and 6 minutes later it'll be there again!

In terms of story, its a little dull - having no plots or anything like that. There's a princess being held, destroy what she hates. Got it? Deal. Lets get into it.

Zone Background Information

Zone Description Medievia.com wrote: The Githyanki live in a towering undergound castle of adamantite and are ruled by the High Lord Githalios. He is the fiercest of them all, and is well known for his deadly vorpal blade. He lies in the heart of this castle, but you must first get through Shool-An-Jyuan, his mighty draconian guard who is feared all over medievia.

Zone Walkthrough

Note that this is an in-depth walkthrough where directions are given more by reading through. Because people don't always want this information, a summary table is at the end which will guide you to the most important mobs and ideas. If you get stuck, try reading the whole walkthrough.

Entrance Level

The entrance has nothing of real interest in it. The first two statues that 'guard' the temple cannot see invis and thus won't attack you if you're invisible. The dark druids that inhabit the next room, however, can. They are aggro and will attack unless you sneak past them. There are some interesting (well… bloody) things to look at, but they do nothing other than create an atmosphere.

The only thing you will really want to remember in this top part is the altar 2 N of the entrance. Although its an altar to some evil bloodthirsty god, you can still use it (which saves you the trip back to the clantown for a res).

Anyway, continue all north until you hit the priest. The High Priest is also aggro and thus will attack you. After finishing him, you'll want to search around that room until you find the secret hatch hidden beneath the pedestal. I really wanted to be able to read some of the spells written in that book, but I couldn't find a command to let me do just that. *cry*

Killing the Priest gives you: a sacrificial dagger - Lev(0) Loc(wield) AC DAG BSER 2d5 AG dex(2) dr(2) a priest's diadem - Lev(0) Loc(head light) AG str(1) int(3) a red velvet cloak - Lev(0) Loc(neck) AC-ap(Cool NoBits

After finding the hatch, continue going down until you hit the basement level. Watch out for bats. Smile

Underground Level

This is really the main level of the zone if you're here for experience. The mobs on this level are easy, and they're mostly melee-class so if you're a melee-class person this makes it nice and simple for quick experience. There are super-hidden mobs called Giths which you'll need sense-life to see, but they are non-aggro and are particularly weak anyway so you don't need to worry about them if you don't want. Simply walk through without invis on and slay every "Elite Guard" that pops up in your way for some good little fun with not a huge chance of them hitting you.

That said, the NPK part of the zone is upstairs in the castle section of the zone - and thus the same mobs are worth more XP up there, so don't waste all your time and energy down here. Nobody really comes in this zone, so don't be afraid of PKs.

Anyway, walk N from the bottom of the stairs until you hit the castle gate. Continue east along the wall until you hit a dead end. Here, search as hard as you can until you uncover the hidden entrance eastern wall. This part is NPK once you step in. Step east to enter the hidden area and then walk all north until you come across: "The evil Githyanki warlock stands in the middle of the circle."

This guy is a spell-caster (duh) and is a trifle harder than the rest of the gang. He doesn't give chase however, so if you need a breather - take it. No other mobs load around him and he'll die out eventually. Killing the Warlock will give you:

a Githyanki Warlock sash - Lev(0) Loc(waist) AG armor(-Cool str(2) a sacrificial dagger - Lev(0) Loc(wield) AC DAG BSER 2d5 AG dex(2) dr(2) a coal-black robe - Lev(10) Loc(body) AC-ap(1) NoBits mana(13) wis(1)

He's also loaded a green orb each time I've killed him, which is nice to keep for myself when I'm in low-mana mode — or you can sell it and just make 40,000 gc.

From here, go back to the front gates and then open them up. Follow the western hall until you get to a dead end with 2 doors. Open the northern one, go north into the room and then one east. You should see:

The Captain of The Elite Guard sits behind his desk.

Ice him (works easiest with plague on first) and then you can loot the following items:

a Captain's Sword - Lev(0) Loc(wield) AM AC 2d8 AG str(2) hr(1) a pair of silver boots - Lev(0) Loc(feet) AC-ap(3) NoBits mana(3) a Captain's Helmet - Lev(7) Loc(head light) NoBits armor(-5) hps(12) a silver breast plate - Lev(0) Loc(body) AC-ap(Cool NoBits a Captain's Cape - Lev(0) Loc(neck) AG str(2)

Thats about it on this level. There's the steam room if you go down the east hallway in the middle there's a training area, sleeping quarters and a sergeants bedroom. Nothing really of note there.

Ok, so from the castle gate (after your exploring around) you'll want to head down the northern hallway until you hit then end and then go into the Sergeants Bedroom to the east. Search his room - in particular behind the mirror - and then go north through the secret stairwell. Go up and you'll be in the Castle Level of the zone.

Castle Level

Ok, welcome to the first real part of the level. First thing you'll want to do here is search the top of the stair-well. That will lead you into a little hidden room to the east, which in the closet has a room above it which is called "On Top of the Shelf". This is the reason I think I have my equipment list incomplete — the room description in the closet says you can see an item, yet every time I've gone up to check for the item — I can never see it. I'm guessing this item must only load on reset - but its been killing me to find out what it is!!

Anyway, continue south and then at the 4th bedroom along - if you look carefully enough, you'll see that you can pull the bedhead back enough to let you into some secret passage. Where the hell this passage leads I have no idea - its just doubles back on itself and goes no where. I searched high and low down this little passage - but apart from containing druids, it seems to do nothing! Run up and down it to your hearts content. Maybe (or atleast I'm hoping) that little item that is never in the closet holds some clue as to what this passageway is used for. Certainly wasn't mentioned anywhere else I read. Sad

Ok, so after getting annoyed at the tunnel, exit it and go all south till the end of the hall and then follow the hall all east, all north and then all east until you are standing before a magical portal. Proceed north into the portal to be transported to Tower I.

The locked door we passed? Well, we're going to get the key for it now - don't stress too much. Smile

Tower I

This part doesn't really have much to think about. Once you're in here you just want to follow the stairs all the way to the top. Only you get to the top, you'll see:

The Princess Myosilla is held prisoner here.

Now, she obviously given up on the will to live so end her little miserable life by killer her. I don't know why we'd want to kill her just so that we can get the key to kill the one person she wants to kill (the big king dude), but thats the way things are.

She'll take like 3 hits to kill, she's really easy - a spellcaster though. Anyway, you can loot the following items out of her:

A jeweled silver key - Lev(0) Loc(hold) NoBits a sapphire studded bracelet - Lev(0) Loc(wrist) NoBits mana(7) an emerald green dress - Lev(0) Loc(body) NoBits a diamond necklace - Lev(0) Loc(neck) NoBits a diamond ring - Lev(0) Loc(fing) NoBits mana(36)

Yay, so now we've got that key we need. Thankfully, theres a hole you can take so you don't have to walk down the stairs. Actually, its the only way out - so you'll drop pretty quickly down the first level. Once you're back to the bottom of the staircase - go north and you'll go through the portal back to the Castle section.

Castle Level

Go back to the locked door, open it, proceed one north and then get ready to fight Shool. This guy's the protector of the high and mighty so he's packin a bit of punch as a spell-caster.

Shool-An-Jyvan, the draconian master guard, is carefully watching the area.

Beat him, and loot the following:

the claw of Shool - Lev(15) Loc(wield) AC 6d4 NoBits str(3) dr(3) the amulet of Shool - Lev(9) Loc(neck) AG mana(2Cool ss(2)

And we're just about at the end of this little zone. Go north until you hit the stairs, then go up the stairs into the Throne Room.

Throne Room

Go up once more and you're faced with the King.

Githalios the High Lord is sitting here.

He's quite hard as he packs quite a bit of punch. He doesn't give chase thou, and if you give him the plague he drops his little sword and doesn't do much more damage to you as he does with it.

Upon beating him, and getting vengence for the Princess which he imprisoned - you'll recieve the following items:

Githalios's Helmet of Sight - Lev(10) Loc(head light) NoBits dex(0) str(1) Githalios's vorpal blade - Lev(16) Loc(wield) AM AC 5d6 AG hr(6) dr(3) Lord Githalios's belt of Power - Lev(16) Loc(waist) AC-ap(1) NoBits hps(1Cool

Among a few other ones (which you can obtain from the other mobs anyway). The last boss awaits! Simply go north from Githalio's throne room, up the stairs and to the chopping block…. Literally. Meet…

The executioner is waiting to chop another head.

Dun dun duunnnn! Anyway, this guy is easier than Githalios in my opinion - but he's still got a bit of punch. Kill him to finish the zone (as far as I can tell) and recieve:

an executioner's axe - Lev(9) Loc(wield) AM AC 2H 3d12 NoBits str(3) dr(1) an executioner's hood - Lev(16) Loc(head) AC-ap(1) NoBits dr(2) int(-1)

Congratulations you've now completed the zone. Go party by killing more peoples upstairs - its still a 6 minute life-span zone. Smile
